Words from the Dalai Lama

Keep up your practice. The results do not happen fast; this is no instant realisation. And as you practise, you will become aware of a change of consciousness. Do not become attached to your method, for when your consciousness changes, you will recognise that all methods are intending the one goal.

In other words, persevere in practice but also be open to change.

  1. My Dear James, I recognise both truth and wisdom in this! Currently I am following Centering Prayer which has been such an encouragement, and remains so, but understand from past experience that we need to be flexible and keep the heart open to change rather than hang on doggedly to what has been helpful in the past, or out of fear of change. So THANK YOU for the reminder! The same need is writ large in the churches, I believe. Love is the only true wisdom and it requires change to grow. Enough!
    Love and prayers,
    Diana

  2. Thank you James. The words of the Daila Llama are very deep. I believe they are true and helpful. I make some modifications which you will know so well. For me it is the Persons of the Blessed Trinity who are the Focus but the same guidance of your quotation applies.
