Sometimes in mid-life there is a wake-up call to change direction, realising we have other potentials. The privilege of a lifetime, wrote Carl Jung, is to become who you are. As Gerard Manley Hopkins expresses it:
Myself it speaks and spells,
Crying, ‘What I do is me: for that I came.’
Those who practise meditation and arrive at this station in their journey will be quicker to recognise the announcement: ‘All change’!
James I did all change in midstream but it was costly to others and I am still not sure it was right.
Dear James,
I love your GMH quote, and nod.
Looking back, I recognise that there is a cost to ‘all change’ which is easier to accept for oneself than when you know the wounds it has meant others carrying – especially ones own young, but have come to recognise -(though its far beyond human understanding )- the depth at which the flow of God’s love is able to transform and heal, I’m learning to trust and let go; I wobble, of course, but the learning curve goes on. Again I can only nod humbly and agree with GMH.
Thankyou, James, it’s cheering!
with love
Diana
Oh James, these two lines have really churned me up, and I’m trying to deal with why. I shall need to be quiet and patient I think.
